Hello,
I'm having an issue with what I think is a bios problem. My server is booting with the new hard drive, but the process fails right before you can enter bios or the OS loads. It fails on a screen listing which sata connector I have the hard drive plugged in to, along with the hard drive model and specs (WD1001FALS). It will not progress past this screen with the hard drive plugged in.

I can plug in an IDE w/o the sata drive and it'll boot, but the system hangs with the sata drive plugged in.

Please help!

Thanks,
Joe Z

The latest BIOS supports hard disks up to 750 GB in size: http://www.tyan.com/support_download_bios.aspx?model=S.S2881. You could contact Tyan to find out if they'll release a BIOS supporting larger hard disks (most likely not as it is a 5 years old motherboard) or you could buy a controller that supports larger SATA hard disks.
