Hello, I have read some of the forums but am still confused about how to overclock. It seams that it depends on your processor, motherboard, and ram. I just dont understand all the settings and how they relate to each other to achieve a stable overclock. If anyone could explain some of the basics of overclocking or point me towards a very easy to understand guide, i would be very grateful. If it helps my "Theoretical" specs are below.

1. CPU: Intel Core i7 930
2. Motherboard: Asus P6X58D Premium
3. Ram: Corsair Dominator 6gb 1600
4. PSU: Corsair 850w

I would like to get it to a stable overclock of around 3.4Ghz.

Start here:

HOWTO: Overclock C2Q (Quads) and C2D (Duals) - Guide v1.6.1

Overclocking also is a bit of trial-and-error, it doesn't help to have a "theoretical system". You'll learn better when you're actually playing around with a real system.

A good place to Start learning are the C2D's And C2Q'S (Slightly simpler) Core I7's are how do you say... alot more complicated...

Heres an I7 Guide

Google I7 overclocking guide since the one that was on here is gone. I can try and help you though if you post your specs and bios pics.
