I recently bought a MSI 790FX GD70 AM3 board and was looking at some memory for it. The motherboard is dual channel, and all memory is triple channel. Question is will triple channel memory be compatible to the dual channel motherboard?

It's a marketing gimick. Your motherboard chipset and the placement of the ram in certain slots determines whether you're running in dual or tripple channel. You can get 4 gb (2x2gb kits) of ddr3 for around $60 at Fry's or newegg. There is no special spec for tripple versus dual channel memory. Get the ram speed your board is rated for.
