When trying, yes trying to match the memory to the motherboard, let say the memory standard is DDR2 1200 can I use DDR2 800 instead? Any Advice would be appreciated.

Yes you can, but you're wasting potential. That lower speed RAM serves as a bottleneck that will keep your PC running slower than it can.

Theres nothing wrong with using 800 unless your trying to set a overclock record.
