I have a ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard, which only has one USB header on it. For now, I've been using that with the front USB ports on my case. I have just added a multi memory card reader which fits in a floppy bay and also uses the USB header. it has a passthrough USB port, but because it's in a drive bay, it sits behind the case door, where as the other USB ports are always exposed (it's an antec P182 in case you're wondering).

is there such a thing as a splitter or Y-cable that will allow connecting two USB sets of ports to one motherboard header? or is there another USB header on the P5N-E board that i'm missing?

Thanks

Before we get ahead of ourselves, have you read your motherboard's manual? AFAIK, the P5N-E has more than one USB header; maybe the manual will tell you where to locate them.

As best I can tell (both via the manual and looking at the board), there is only one header on the P5N-E SLI.

Page 9 of this manual (http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5N-E%20SLI/E2968P5N-ESLI.pdf) shows USB ports 5&6 are on a header located near the front panel header and ports 7&8 on another header located between the two PCI slots.

i'm off to crack open my case and hook it up.
