Underclocking a 8800GT

I have never Over or underclocked anything before, but my graphics card (Nvidia 8800GT) right now is too hot to touch when im playing games, and by the sound of the fan the bearing must be out or something. So i was wondering how to Underclock it and what exactly to set it at, ive tried looking on previous threads how to do it but really am getting confused with even trying to figure out BIOS and what other programs i need, My PC is

Intel Core Duo processor E6850 (3.0Ghz)
Windows vista home premium 32bit edtion
3gb Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800mhz
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT 512 mb


Not even sure what my motherboard was i dont think it gave me an option to choose one, but its a dell xps 420 from early 2008

I think you can underclock it using MSI Afterburner - just move the position of the sliders to your left, which should underclock your card.
