I've recently bought an Asus A7N8X-X mobo and since I was getting a lot of BSODs (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) I decided to ditch the USB connection to my USR6000 cable modem (640kbps) and started using the Ethernet connection through the mobo.
The BSODs are gone - took me some time to solve the problem since i'm not an experienced hardware user! - but the internet connection is so slow righ now that it seems like weak dial-up.
All i did, besides removing the USB cable to the modem, was install the CD drivers on the Asus.
A couple of things to try. <A HREF="http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/" target="_new">Speed test</A>, <A HREF="http://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php?DATA_OFFSET=40&TCP_Options_string=020405b401010402&IP_MTU_DISCOVER=1&WIN=64240&RWIN=64240&MSS=1460&SCALE=0&TTL=119&TSOPT=0&SACK_PERM=1&IP_TOS=0&IP=68.13.91.218×tamp=1083566818" target="_new">Speedguide.net</A>
