Hi,
I am planning on getting a new system in march. Part of it is an ati radeon hd 4870 1GB. Now the thing that I am confused about is which company's should I get: Powercolor, HIS, or SAPPHIRE?????????!!!!!!!. Could anyone please give me any info on this as this is the first time I am getting a high-end 3d card.

The stock cooler is ok but most companies have an aftermarket cooler of their own which they use. I would stick with one of these. I have an Asus Dark Knight cooler on mine which works well. the fan is smaller and sits at 50% duty cycle so i can be a little noisy (my PC is otherwise pretty quiet). So i set a fan profile in Rivatuner so it is at 35% to start. I've read others that have done the same thing. Sapphire has a nice cooler. HIS probably has the BEST cooler as it blows it out the back, but you will pay a premium for their IceQ cooler. Other than that just one with a nice cooler. They are all pretty much the same. Some have better warranties than others. Asus is 3 years but I don't think I will have it that long so it doesnt bother me.

I think i'll get this one. Besides I'm buying in march, and the prices will have dropped a bit by then too. :bounce:

People love their HIS cards. I have to admit their coolers are awesome. They are just usually more pricy than most if you get their GOOD cooler.

I got my HIS iceq4 with turbo and i love it... u should get it.... i made a thread about brand 4870 on here so read it

I agree that cooling is an important factor in choosing a card.

I have the Dark Knight version of the 9800GTX+, and I'm really pleased with the low temperatures.
