ASUS P5KPL-CM LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
$55 and free shipping can go to 1600 FSB, faster than the Gigabyte and ASRock above.
im interested with the mobos you recommended. which one is better, disregarding the price? is asrock a reliable brand?
The Gigabyte should be a better motherboard, but it won't overclock like a GA-EP45-UD3P could. You just can't expect a $50 motherboard to be as good as a $150 motherboard.

When reading the reviews, it looks like overclocking isn't that great. Most can go to an FSB clock of 400 MHz, but that doesn't mean that they'll be able to do it. Note that the Gigabyte provides finer voltage adjustments and that helps when overclocking.
The Gigabyte GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L that I suggested should be able to do it, but I can't guarantee it because not all E4600 overclock the same and we know nothing about the memory modules and the PSU that you'll be using.
im using a kingston 4gb (2x2) ddr2 800. KVR800D2N62G. what do you need to know about the psu? im using a 500watt-unknown brand psu (radius) but i think its true rated, because im running a 9800gt on it w/o probs. (everyone is telling me its dangerous hehe)
The memory is fine as long as you don't overclock it. The PSU is good enough if you won't use that 9800gt. It's more like a 300W - a 500W PSU would provide about twice as much +12V DC power. New systems require more +12V power than older P4 systems. If you plan on using the 9800gt, then why are you buying a Micro-ATX motherboard with on-board video?
P35, but they don't overclock as well. It would be easier to help if you clearly stated what your requirements and budget are. For instance, why the requirement to overclock? Will you be gaming and if so, what games, resolution, expected FPS, etc.
ill be gaming at 1440x900. i would want a stable 60 fps on my 2k9, grid. and at least make gta4 playable cuz as of the moment, it just sucks at 24fps. (30 fps if i oc my vc and put details all low.)
Then don't bother because replacing the motherboard with another low end one will not yield the expected benefits. Even a better GPU like the ATI 4770 will cost $100.
i think im being cpu limited. i already have the 9800gt and i think its enough for 2k9, grid, and probably gta4. i dont play the latest/heaviest first person shooters.
what i was thinking a few days back is that i upgrade my proc to a E8400. but its too expensive. it would be cheaper to just upgrade my mobo and do some overclocking.
