Just purchased this board today along with an Arctic Freezer 7 pro rev. 2.

Ive owned an E8400 E0 for about a year now, but never had a board to support properly over-clocking. Ideally, Id like to hit 3.8-4.0Ghz. Not looking to break records. Just want a nice OC to compliment my GTX285 for a while.

Before I make my next purchase, I wanted to run it by the pros.

Im considering : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3404049&CatId=3412

First off, is this memory compatible with this board? and secondly, is it high enough grade/quality to hold enough to hit 3.8-4.0Ghz?

Thank you kindly for any assistance. Always much appreciated!

FYI: I'm running Windows 7 64bit. Other hardware which might or might not be relevant are a 500Gb Barracude HD, and an OCZ600SXS PSU.

I had an E8400, OCed to 4.165 @ 1.28v (board was pencil modded though) and found it much easier with 1066 memory. You may be able to OC your memory beyond the rated 800 Mhz (you need 900 Mhz for 4.0 Ghz) without a problem but to be safe I would go with 1066 memory.

Sounds good!

OCZ Blade Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Desktop Memory Model OCZ2B10664GK

Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 996599

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2P10664GK

Which of those 3 contenders would you recommend? Also, looking for memory the board will pick up and recognize without any issues.

Thanks!

Id like to go with : OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2P10664GK

But I keep getting scared away by people saying the board doesnt support it. If you can mannually set the timings? how could it not support it ?!

Anyone able to explain that to me ?
