Would this be a good upgrade?

I'm going to upgrade the main components of my system, for gaming, and I'm curious if what I'm thinking of getting is the best I can get for the price, and if anyone has any suggestions on superior parts in the same price range.

I currently have: nForce 570 SLI mobo, AMD64X2 6400+ (dual 3.2), 9800GTX+, 4GB Cruicial DDR800, ABS 900W PSU. (Win XP)

I'm considering: nForce 780i SLI mobo ($215), Intel Q8200 [quad 2.33, 45nm] ($180), another 9800GTX+ for SLI ($180)

I'm assuming SLI 9800GTX+ would be better than one GTX260, and that the PSU has plenty of power.
Should I keep the same RAM?
Would i get better performance on Vista?
I will have aftermarket cooling on the CPU and GPUs so overclocking is probable. So I'm not sure if the Intel Q6600 quad 2.4 65nm would be a better choice.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hmm i personally dislike quadcores dont feel the price range is right as very few games support 4 cores so i would advise a E8400 or E8500, i live in South Africa so i cant tell you about the prices in your country but in mine there is a big difference. I would say keep the ram for a while until DDR3 ram becomes more finacially viable ( in my country atleast ) sorry if none of this is relevant to you eg price differences.

The sli on the 9800GTX+ is a good choice and you PSU have ample power, if you are set on quad cores i think the Q6600 is a great overclocker.

Nvidia chipsets aren't very popular around here.

Any chance you could upgrade to an i7 920 and x58 motherboard? That would leave you the SLI option but give you the Intel chipset.
ASUS P6T $250
i7 920 $300
G.Skill 6GB DDR3 $150

If something like that is out of reach, then 780i would be OK. Try to get this EVGA board.

If you don't need a quad, you'll get better performance from an E8400. See the guide linked in my sig to determine which processor will work best for you.
