8800 gt sli question

I currently have a evga 512mb 8800gt in my system, I have access to a xfx alpha dog 8800gt but it only has 256mb, from what I have read operating them in sli would force them both into 256mb. Would I be better off running one card with 512mb or the sli configuration with only 256mb a card

A 8800GT 256 isnt a good choice,it doesnt perform like 512,and u have read right,if u SLI a 256MB 8800GT with 512MB one,the 512MB one will only use 256MB of its memory.
I dont recommend SLI'ng these 2.

Either keep it or go for another 8800GT 512.
