Trouble setting up Media Center Channel Guide

Windows XP SP3 MCE

Hello, I just installed a new hard drive in my machine and installed my copy of Win XP MCE on it. I mostly use this machine as a DVR.

I went to microsoft update and installed ALL of the updates that were applicable immediately after I finished installing windows.

Everything seems to be working fine, but when setting up the program guide in media center, I enter my zip code, it connects to the internet and gets a list of signal providers, I select my provider and click Next, and it just hangs there. I tried restarting the computer and doing it again but got the same exact result.

When this happens the mouse will still move but I can not click on anything. I have to hit Ctl Alt Del to shut media center down.


any ideas?

Hi again, after some more web searching I fould the answer to my problem, I figured I'd post it here in case it can help someone else.

I uninstalled .Net Framework 4.0, somehow this must interfere with the downloading of the channel guide, it works perfectly now.
