i would like to upgrade my acer for modest gaming. also i will be using it for autoCADD and revit as a student. i don't know how to find out what the motherboard will support. it say on it HT 2000 MCP61PM-AM.

acer ase380-ud440a
PSU 480w (upgraded)
MSI NX8500GT TD512E (upgraded)
2GB DDR2 RAM
AMD ATHLON 64X2 4400+
XP home 32bit

some one said that it will support a AMD Athlon64 X2 5600+ processor. also i read that if one updates the BIOS it will support a Athlon64 X2 6000+ processor.

as far as the video card, i was thinking a 9800GTX or a GTX 260. Even though theses card are 2ed gen. PCIe I read that they should work in a 1st gen. PCIe slot (which is what i think my board has) but at a slower speed, and with not much difference in benchmarks.

so is this a good idea, keeping in mind that I have a limited budget.
