Hello all, back in Early Feb I built a new system with the following specs:
Intel E8400 cpu
Asus P5N-D 750i motherboard
4gb Kingston HyperX DDR2 PC800 4-4-4-12 (4 X 1gb sticks)
XFX 8800 GT (g92) 512mb
Soyo 22" LCD 1680X1050

I had thought about upgrading to Ci7 920, gigabyte X58 and 6gb of DDR3 memory but I think ill wait till after AMD comes out with the P2 AM3 version. So ive been giving it some thought and I am going to replace the 22" moniter with a 32" 1080p TV to pull double duty im still shopping around but I dont plan on getting the TV till mid Feb so Ill wait to see what prices are then. But id like to know do I need to upgrade my Video card? I know it can handle 1920X1080 with no problems as i did have a 24" 1920X1200 lcd on it at first (died 30 days after getting it). Id like some thoughts on this, should i even get a new video card or should i just sit tight and wait till after nvidia and ati come up with something newer. I dont plan on going sli or crossfire I only plan on using one moniter so 1 single card is all i need. I might get a sound card as someone will prob say onboard is slowing me down. But I just figured I see what people had to say. I am leaning towards a HD 4870 as i think that will pretty much run anything that will come out till the next new gpus hit the market.

If you plan on playing somewhat recent games at the display's native resolution, I would upgrade the card. If you don't mind bumping down to a lower resolution I think what you have now would be ok.

Still, to me it kind of seems like a waste to put a lot of money into a nice display and not back it up with a nice video card. What you have now isn't too bad, but I think you'd be able to better take advantage of your new TV with a newer card. I'd go for the 4870.

Well when i had the 24" @ 1920X1200 i had no problems playing WiC or CoH DirectX 10 versions with High settings.

Well considering that you can get a 4870 1gb for less than 250 I think i will be upgrading to a 4870 and I shouldnt need to upgrade for a bit maybe untill the next gpus come out. Thanks I really like the opinions of people in this fourm seems theres more people that know what they are taking about than there are smoke blowers.
