Is there more than one DirecTV satellite? So if my direct view of one is
blocked, maybe I can point to another? Will that mess up my receiving my
local channels?

Depends.
A single DTV Dish can and does point to at least Three satellites at a
time, and all for different things.
And depending on which "ONE" is blocked, it can make it impossible for
reception on the others, as "the one" is needed for the main carrier
"information" signal.
From my understanding, a new DTV(7?) I believe was recently set up, but
it will not be parked into it's final orbit for some time.
And what it will do or carry is still not known to me.
How many LNB's does your current dish have now?
If it's just one, then yer screwed, as that is the one that is needed!
You will have to remove the "blockage" or move the dish/antenna to a
place where it can "View."
Of course, more info is needed as to what you have, and why you ask.

Certainly a lot of new locals spot beams. The only date I carry about is
June 10th, as that is when MY locals will be available from this
satellite.

I have a quad in Dallas, pointing somewhat south. My daughter in California
has a single, pointing mostly south east. What does your comment "How many
LNB's does your current dish have now? If it's just one, then yer screwed,
as that is the one that is needed!" mean? Her house has a large 3 story
very wide building sort of in the way. Most dishes in her neighborhood
point south east, so maybe use the same satellite I use in Dallas. I see
other dishes pointing south. Is there another satellite in that direction
that she can use? Or is that a "Dish Network" satellite? You say there are
3 satellites. In a tight group? How can just 1 be blocked. The dish seems
parabolic, so if not in a tight group, how can the dish aim multiple ways -
both up/down and left/right? The receiver's setup dish pointing screen
makes no mention of multiple satellites.
