Can i connect a 3pin fan connector to my mobos 4pin fan provision

hey guys,

i have a gigabyte ud5 and a haf 932 case and there the mobo has only 3 3pin provisions for fans (sysfan 1,3 &4) sysfan2 is a 4 pin provision and i want to know if i can connect my fan to it ( fan has 3 pin connectr)

yes you can... you'll just have one pin not being used.

i had the exact same question a few years ago though i plugged it in anayways and saw what happened....

it worked fine moral of the story if u dont no what it does plus it in anyways if it will fit and se what happens. unless its getting fire wire and usb mixed up in which case that can damage ur motherboard which all the manulals say n e way. ( one day ill try it and see if it does actually damage the motherbaord )
