Im not sure wheter to get 4gb ddr2 1066 or 6ddr2 1066. I have the extra cash and was wondering if its any good to buy the extra 2gigs. I am pairing it with a 720 x3 and a 4890. yes I will plan to overclock as well.
ps. I heard that the more ram the harder it is to oc?

Well, the only difficulty I know of is, the more RAM sticks you use, the hotter it will be and the more cooling you'll need.

I assume of course you're using a 64-bit like updated versions of Windows 7, Vista, and XP 64-bit?

if you have cash to burn and are doing multiple memory heavy applications it might be useful but likely not, again assuming you are using a 64 bit OS so you can use it all but games are unlikely to be able to take advantage of the added memory.

Yes vista 64bit sorry didnt mention that before. and yes mostly gaming I thought crysis and such games needed more memory.

4 gb is more than enough for gaming .

The computer will only ever be using the same amount of RAM as your gfx card + a little extra for windows overheads

In all other situations your 32 bit apps wont be able to see all your memory anyway , even if vista 64 can .

There are starting to be exceptions to this rule . Adobe CS4 is 64 bit and more RAM would be better
Also if you run VM's they can use more ram

but generally for gaming you will degrade performance by using more RAM sticks than the minimum 2 you need for dual channel . If you add more the ram down clocks , and since you cant use more you just effectively have the same amount going slower

you know, my friend and I both have the same ram, he has 4gb of it , and i have 8. his runs cooler because each stick is being used less. on the other hand my ram is doing more work. not that its alot of work, but its doing more. making my 4gb hotter

on the other hand i suggest 4gb, unless you use VM's the go for 8
