2003 window xp word feature

I'm updating my resume in 2003 window xp windows. I have one phase that will only take 4 letters of a five letter word. on the fifth lette it goes to the next line. In this same document I have other lines that are longer that that phase and there are no problems with those phase. What can I do to make it accept that last letter with going on to the next space. By the thehhhhide and show feature show I cannot delete any more space at the end of that phase.
