What was the old motherboard? Were you using Intel Matrix RAID? Did you set the Intel SATA controller as RAID? What is the boot order?

My old motherboard was dell xps 710, Boot order is DVD then floppy and then HD. I have set the controller on Raid but still no hardware found, I'm not sure about the intel matrix, maybe I should format discs on my old motherboard and disable raid and then connect them to new one.

I believe this is normal if you don't have IDE hard disks and the ICH10R is configured as RAID.

When you press Ctrl+I, what do you see? Are your hard disks members of an array?

When I press I + Ctrl it says Rebot and Select proper Boot Device or inster boot media in select boot device and press a key

In the Main menu screen, select Storage Configuration and configure SATA as RAID. Save your changes and exit the BIOS. During POST (not after it has completed), press <CTRL+I> to display the Intel Matrix Storage menu. Instructions start on page 4-61 of your manual.

If you are reinstalling XP (which most likely is the case since you are booting from a CD), you need to load the the RAID drivers from a floppy or you have to slipstream them. Stop 0x0000007B is normal if the drivers are missing.

I have loaded the drivers click next in vista and it says "No new device could be found. Make sure the drive files are correct and loacted on the driver installation media. ;/ I'm such a noob I really don't knwo what to do :(

Reply to morfinel

The drivers are not needed for Vista. In your original post you wrote "I have windows xp in DVD but it doesn’t load it" which lead me to believe that you were installing XP and not Vista.

1. Is your SATA controller configured as IDE, AHCI or RAID?
2. If RAID, did you create the RAID in the BIOS? You never confirmed that.

If the disks are OK, then you should have no problems loading Vista SP1.

I have tryed xp from dvd it don't even try to load driver from floppp, and then with vista, it loaded the driver but then "No new device could be found. Make sure the drive files are correct and loacted on the driver installation media.

Right now in Store configurationits on Raid.

Ah yes I didn't set up the intel matrix store manager, how do I isntall this store manager rom utylity because when I pres ctrl +I no menu appear.

Edit I have changed to AHCI and looks like the vista is installing, and it found 1 HD, if vista install sucesfully then I'll install Intel matrix utylity and then create raid if I'm correct

It was too good to be true, Vista is stuck on Completing Installation

If you press Ctrl+I at POST and nothing happens, then you are not configured for RAID. If you are configured for AHCI instead of RAID, Ctrl+I does nothing.

It would be much easier to setup your RAID before installing Vista. You can't easily switch the boot drive from AHCI to RAID after installing Vista. It can be done if you switch to RAID1, but you might not have the expertise to do it. If you plan on using RAID0, ten a complete reinstall is required.

But when I chose Raid in bios and then in POST press Ctrl + I manu for Raid do not appear.

I'll be fine for now with 1 HD, right now all I want to do is finally install windows, and then I'll do clean reinstall in raid with Intel matrix

But Vista keep freezing on Completing installation, its vista from my dell laptop and I have read on forum that I nee to change from AHCI to ATA ;/

After selecting RAID in BIOS, did you save the settings and reboot? I have a P5Q Deluxe, a P5W DH Deluxe and a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P and they all work the same. Once the ICHxR is set as RAID, a message like "Press Ctrl+I to access Intel Matrix Storage..." is displayed at POST.

You meant change from AHCI to IDE on your P5Q Deluxe.

Reply to GhislainG

Yes I have switch from AHCI to IDE and manage to install vista,
Thank You for All your help, Yes I have change to raid and exit with F10 which is save and exit but no intel matrix appear, maybe its to do with the HDD

As soon as the first screen is displayed, Ctrl+I should work and then the Intel Matrix menu should be displayed. You need to hold down the Ctrl key and press "I" while still holding it down. Otherwise it won't work.
