XP Won't Boot WIth Large Hard Drive

I have Dell Inspiron 4400 and purchased a new 500 gig hard drive to install using XP Professional but it won't work. Although the disk performs the setup it will not go to the next level and allow me to install the operating system it restarts rather than moving to the install panel..

Does that install disk include SP1? If not, you'll only be able to partition approx 137 gig. I don't think that should cause the install to hang though. You can try slipstreaming SP3 into your install.
