one thing you should consider about buying a larger monitor. Anything under 30" still only does 1920x1200, which is the same as a 24" monitor. you'll only jump in resolution if you go to 30", and you'll get 2560x1600.

Larger monitors are a beautiful thing - Just make sure your GPU setup has the horsepower needed to drive it.

Also - Since you mention "another" LCD: It would be a great goodness to keep it for use as an extended desktop. Towards this end, I highly recommend an app called UltraMon, which you can use to tweak the two to behave how you want.

Scotteq is right. Depending on you current resolution, you might discover that the LCD is actually the "cheap" part of your investment. At 1680x1050, you can get pretty much get every game to work ok with a 250$ 4870; up the resolution a bit and you now need a 4870x2 or a GTX280 which are both 500$.

Well I think a 30" is a little much I think I will stick with the 24" I have chosen its the new asus with the camera in it, I thought I had this all figured out but I talked to a friend who owns a computer repair shop and he is telling me to go AMD instead of intel. He also told me that the 4870X2 runs too hot and not to get it without water cooling? I have no clue now

Beside hardcore fans and budget tight people, most people would recommend Intel over AMD.

It is true the 4870X2 runs hot, but I'm not sure it is that much of an issue and it can be handled by changing the default fan speeds.

I think I am going to go with the nvidia 260/216 for now and get the new G295 when it releases, I wonder if you can run them both in SLI?

what are your recomondations on a motherboard and video card or cards to run this monitor? The wife is pushing for a 26" monitor she is visually impared and wants the everything larger. Will the text at 1900/1200 be smaller on the 26" than the text on the 24" 1900/1080 monitor
