I'm looking at getting an i7 920, and overclocking it to 3.8ghz. Can people please suggest their prefered MB, and say y. its hard to pick the best, and atm im looking between gigabyte extreme, asus deluxe, and evga sli, but CHEAPER MB's with good OC capability would also be good.

NB: using a TRUE 120, need 2+ PCI-E 2.0, and good OC capability

thanks all :D

The EVGA E758-A1 or the ASUS P6T deluxe v2 is what I'm stuck between...

umm... under the $250 mark.... and it needs good OC, standard atx size, and 2+ PCI-E 2.0

I'm on a P6T Deluxe (v1) overclocked to 3.9 only stopped there because I didn't want to push any further, from the way it's handling I get the feeling I could easily get a bit higher.

the ASUS P6T deluxe (v1 or V2) gets my vote

what about gigabyte? do they have good boards, cause of the dual-BIOS settings?

The UD5 is a good choice for overclocking also. Its a tough choice. Since I haven't had problems with ASUS boards in the past, I went with the p6t deluxe v2. However, Gigabyte makes good boards too. I know that from personal experiences also. Alot of people claim that EVGA is the best choice because of their superb customer support.

They are all really good boards, but I say go with the p6t deluxe v2.

i7 Overclocking has less to do with motherboard choices. Just about any motherboard can do 4ghz.

It relies more on the IMC of your processor with the C0/C1 revision. The new D0 revision has almost no problems getting to 4ghz. It boils down to how much vcore you're willing to pump into it.

Don't believe me? This ECS X58 board can do 222bclk and take i7 920 to 4.3ghz

Unlike the old socket 775 days, where the chipset and memory controller are on the board so choosing the right 775 board was key to overclocking, i7 doesn't work that way.

so its all down to the batch number (d0 rather that c0/c1), rather than the motherboard, except if u want SLi, XF, 3-way etc?
