HI, I just bought a 2gb chip online for my vista 32bit OS.But I read after the fact that a 1gb chip goes there to build up to 4gb max. I have a 64bit processor so I technically can put in in there but with the 32bit OS and presently 1gb available, will the computer give me more ram? or will this harm my computer? or, if after installing it will I have 3gb? Thanks!

Windows 32-bit is limited to approximately 3.25 GB. You bought memory for your motherboard, not for your OS. Knowing what motherboard and memory modules you have would have been be far more useful.
