Hello,

I seem to be a bit confused about the difference between the two. I know spec wise 2.0 is significantly faster, yet, many video cards can't even utilize the increased specs etc. My question is - my old mobo (Asus P5E-VM HDMI) only had PCI Express x16. I decided to buy a new mobo with PCI Express 2.0 x16. I went with the Asus P5QL Pro because it was cheap and claimed to have PCI Express 2.0 x16. When I got it, the slot looks identical to the old mobo. Asus' website claims 2.0, however, the manual conveniently mentions nothing about 2.0.

Is there indeed a different interface for the 2.0 slot? I've seen some photos where one can actually see a slightly different slot. I'm a bit confused...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

They are physically identical, but 2.0 could be twice as fast.
