Hi,

the day of my first build is slowly creeping up and i have been reading as many guides as possible, one issue that concerns me is people frying their components, from static charge.

can some one tell me is the risk of such an incident minimal if not what is the best way to ensure i don't fry my components.

Unless you have fur slippers on running around on the carpet putting together your pc on a bath robe, you shouldn't have a huge problem. Don't get me wrong, static electricity is a huge killer for hardware during assembly, but after doing quite a few builds, I find most people exaggerate a bit in precaution.

I personally use very thin non-powdered rubber gloves when assembling my motherboard/cpu since you have to touch quite a few conductive pieces.

Just leave your PSU plugged in (lots of people say to unplug it, but when you do, you get rid of your god-saving ground) and touch it every 5-10 minutes. You'll be alright. I've never had static kill anything.
