Welcome to Tom's Hardware and we'll help you with this problem, but we do not use email. The solution will be posted here for you to read and benefit others that may now or someday have the same problem.

Click the Start button
Click "Control Panel"
When the control panel appears, click "Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices"
Click "Sounds and Audio Devices"
The "Volume" tab should be already selected and showing,
Notice about in the center of the box there are two checkboxes, one is labeled "Mute" and the other is labeled "Place volume icon in the taskbar"

The one labeled "Place volume icon in the taskbar" needs a checkmark in it. If there is no checkmark, click in the little box to make a checkmark appear there.

Click the "OK" button
Close Control Panel.
The speaker icon should now be located in the taskbar.
