Pretty short post.

Helping a friend, just wondering if this MOBO will properly run a p4, 3.2 HT prescott...most likely will be cooled with 4 heat pipe cooler, gigabyte g power pro.

With BIOS Version: 1.0c1, Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.2 GHz (2M,800MHz,Socket 478) is supported.

To check which BIOS version the system board has downlaod and run CPUZ 1.51 and click on the MB tab for BIOS version.

well the motherboard needs a CPU so it is not bootable. That's why we need to know if it will handle it..

What's the worst that could happen if the motherboard can't handle it? It does say HT supported or something on the motherboard.

If you install the CPU, nothing bad will happend if the 3.2 is not supported by the BIOS. The system will not POST to BIOS, that's all.

Socket478 uch old! better off investing in like an E1400, 2gb DDR2 and an ASUS P5KPL-CM or something - much better value, efficency and performance

I know...I plan to get the frys mobo+CPU combo with dual core for $80. That's why I'm selling my p4's ;)
