On Newegg, what is the difference between these two G. skill ddr3 RAM to result in $100 dollars difference? Is it just the timings being lower on one that causes the price increase?
Well, G. Skill did not produce the chips. G. Skill is not a chipmaker. G. Skill purchased the chip from a chipmaker (Micron, Samsung, etc...chipmakers) and then sells it under their 'glossy' name. Perhaps the more expensive kit is a more expensive Micron chip with lower latency capabilities. Crucial is Micron's 'glossy' retail name. Micron owns Crucial.
