Blue screen during reformat / reinstall Tags: Security Blue Screen Windows XP Last response: June 9, 2011 7:49 PM in Windows XP Share KingKenny June 9, 2011 1:37:13 AM This issue is happening on a buddy's Compaq. It was randomly crashing so he ran a restore of sorts which deleted his OS off of the HD. When he loaded his boot disc to attempt to reformat and reinstall Windows XP he gets the blue screen of death. I am in the process of gathering more information from him as this is quite vague.. but if anyone has any ideas of what may the underlying cause please let me know. At this point I don't know if it's something in the BIOS or if there is something corrupted or if there is any other way to wipe the HD to try to install Windows again.
