2.8ghz and up I cannot boot up pc

So I recently bought a Kingwin XT-1264 cooler for my e6600.

I bought it so i could push my e6600 even higher than I could with the stock cooler.

My issue is that say I set my bios overclock to 2.9ghz and hit f10 to save and reboot, it will not boot. I dont even get the asus startup logo. It doesnt start, I just get a black screen.

Does anyone know what is causing this?

Intel E6600
Kingwin XT-1264
Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus
2x1GB Super Talent DDR2-800
Thermaltake 700W psu
2x320GB HD in raid
Asus 5850

More about 8ghz boot
  1. Did you install the 8-pin power plug on the board for the CPU?

Here is a good checklist: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-boot-video-problems
  2. Have you DOWN clocked your RAM to compensate for your raising the FSB?

    Hmmmm?

That was the issue I was having. I un-linked my ram from the fsb and its fine now.
