I am getting a new graphics card as I have a 9300 128mb at the moment =P.

I only have a 300W PSU is this enough for a 4850?

I was looking at a 9800GTX but I have heard that 4850's are better and I can get one for the same price this is true?

Thanks in advance =].

A 300w power supply really isn't enough to run your system and a 4850 graphic card. The HD4850 will outperform the 9800GTX in almost all games. The 9800GTX would also need a larger power supply then a 300w unit. The best graphic card out right now for a 300w power supply is a HD4670. If you want a more powerful GPU you'd have to upgrade your power supply.

**EDIT**With a 430W be enough or would I need more?

Also I heard bad PSUs are really bad =] but this is Thermaltake so it should be good? I was also wondering if this PSU would be enough for furture upgrades such as a 4870X2 or GTX295? Because I wouldnt really like upgrading again =]. Thats for the help.

I wouldn't run either of those power supplies in my own system with a HD4850, let alone a 4870x2 or a GTX295.

The 4850 performs slightly better in most games. But the two cards are basically about equal. You need a better power supply. Get a good one for $50-$80 from newegg.

EDIT** If you wanted to check what price they are over here ShopBot.com.au is pretty good.

I think you should get a PSU greater than 450W from a good manufacturer for HD4850.

I'm using a 600w power supply with my HD 4850, just to be on the safe side. However, a 500w power supply should be just fine.
