didn't select a sub-category, typed a rather big message.. great. :fou:

TL;DR version...

Crap PSU.
It has these lines:
+5 30A
+12 17A
-5 0.5A
-12 0.8A
+3.3 26A
5VSB 2A

current system is:

Q6600 stock
MSI P965 Neo
2GB kingston
Geforce 7600GT
450W
250GB WD HDD
Some fans, a CCFL tube and a dvd drive ofcourse...

Want to upgrade the video card to something like 9600GT or HD4850.

Any input appreciated :)

the best you can do with that psu is 8600gt..
get a good 500w supply with like 25amps on 12v rail and you can run ati 4850

Like everything else not all PS are created equal, some have a rating that is not sustainable, you get what you pay for in most cases. 500 watts should do the job but does not give you much head room.

Wow, thanks for the very fast responses :D

If you could recommend any budget PSU that can handle the cards I said, what would it be?

Antec have a budget range called 'basiq'. they have 2 x 12v rails at 18amps on each and they start at about £40
