Alright, I have been getting suggestions and stuff from everyone here on the forums about the PC i want to build.
So far, i have come up with this.

-Power Supply Corsair 750 watt
-Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R
-Processor Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz
-Heatsink Tuniq Tower 120 (Any other suggestions besides this?)
-Memory G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
-Video card EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3

*keep in mind that i already have the chassis (Cooler master haf), a hard drive (250gb sata), a dvd rom, dvd burner, and a sound card.*

I am building this pc mainly for gaming, i want to be able to play fallout 3, and call of duty world at war with ease, and hopefully be able to play other games without resorting to low quality for the next couple years (if that's not just a dream).

Opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated, just would like to know if theres any improvements i can make to my budget 1k system, (so far its up to 890 with those parts).

You don't need another heatsink/fan unless you overclock.

i want to overclock the processor definitely, i read things of people taking the same processor to 3.6 on air with stock heat sink. Plus, i just don't trust the stock heat sinks, to be honest.

Think this rig would handle the next elder scrolls game no problem? (one of the titles i am anxiously waiting to play on a new pc) Bethesda said it is being developed on the consoles we have now, so knowing that information i am pretty confident it would.

Do u really think that its better than the gtx 260?

i been reading up on benchmarks and the card i chose dominates over the radeon 4870.

For todays games, with your rig, a 4870 would blow through anything. However if your planning on keeping your computer for 2 years I would definately go ahead and get the 260 core, which is faster.

The EVGA superclocked version is only $10 more than the regular, unless your planning on OCing the regular yourself.

thanks, i plan on sticking with the gtx 260 then, i am looking forward to a few computer games, like elder scrolls V, bioshock 2, and other games that don't demand as good as a computer like diablo 3 and star craft II.

What i hope to achieve is that in 2 years, this rig could still play games on at least medium. Is there any other suggestions for my computer that i could add? I just would really like this computer built, and to be extremely fast and stable.

I am tired of my laptop, all i can play is Call of duty 1, and that's really it, i was playing fallout 3 and my 8600m gt just crashed, awesome!

I can't wait till my desktop is built

The HAF probably has enough space for the tuniq, The tuniq is pretty scarce... I've seen reviews of the new Cooler Master Z600.

I bought this after my tuniq (I still have used tuniq in box) And replaced it with the Z600 , and it is impressive!

It cools a lot better than my tuniq with fan @ 1500rpm.
It also comes with fan brackets. (for dual cooling).
If I were you i'd take a look at that.

Also if you dont mind 35 dB in your case, then i suggest looking at scythe ultra kaze fans. I have a 38mm thick ultra kaze 2000 and it cools massively.

i would stay with the corsair psu just from experience i have it and it is silent and is super high quality it weighs like 10 pounds its rediculous!

Thanks for the suggestion on the heat sink, I am not one for caring if the fan is loud, but you know, there is a limit though. If its just a slight blowing sound that can easily be drowned out by playing a game, then it's fine.

I am just more worried about whether or not there is enough clearance with the heat sinks around the processor for the CPU heat sink.

Boop, thanks for the suggestion too, i do believe corsair is more reliable, they even offer a 5 year warrant on their power supplies. In my old computer long ago, every time a part died it was always the power supply.
(never had good luck with them).

Just a curious thought, do u think games would ever start going in the direction of blu-ray on the computer? otherwise the stupid blu-ray drives are a luxury (i will just use my ps3 for that)

no, blu ray games for pc arent coming for a while, not in this computers lifetime!

figured, i just want this computer to run games down the road too, what do u believe would be the life? (how good it is) considering till when the computer is considered crap really. Maybe.. 4 years?

I think the processor is good enough for a long time until they start making programs that utilize all 4 cores. But the video card... probably would have to upgrade in a few years (if i am lucky)

yeah i would say it would last 4 years maybe with an overclock , and new video card here and there and your set!

So far the ones I found that fit on the UD3P are as follows:

CoolerMaster V8
CoolerMaster Hyper 212
CoolerMaster Z600
Thermalright TRUE
OCZ Vendetta 2
Thermaltake MaxOrb
ZEROTherm ZEN
ZEROTherm Nirvana
Xigmatek 1284

I have the Z600 myself , and the noise is not so much, its not silent, but its not loud either... it's just like a breeze ;)

Thanks for the suggestions again, and very appreciated for the list of compatible heat sinks. =D

Anyone know any good sound cards? The Creative sound cards don't get very good ratings. I have a Sound blaster audigy 2, and a X-fi (is one of those good enough?) I am not one that would notice extremely clear sound like someone who uses it in a studio but i love music and crisp sound in games is a must. any suggestions?

Reply to Vos17

onboard will do fine on newer boards, but with vista you wont be able to use the xfi cards... i have a creative xfi and its very good too.

Reply to radium69

You probably only want to use a soundcard if you prefer EAX and true 5.1 support (OPEN AL) etc ;)

So if i am not going to have 5.1 speakers (i plan on only having 2.1) there is no point of having a sound card? It's not that i am not a huge music enthusiast but having clear crisp sound that doesn't cut out or sound messed up is what i am looking for.

Suppose the audigy 2 would be fine? Radium said that my vista wouldn't run the xfi card.

I just picked up a Corsair 750 TX PSU from Micro Center the other day, I went back two days later to pick up a 2nd one and the 20 that were there were all sold out. The price is $179-$40-$50=$89. It is literally packaged like jewelry, I hope it runs as good as it looks. They offer them on their website, but perhaps your local Micro Center store may have them in stock and you can save shipping.

It'd be greatly appreciated if you can tell me how the PSU runs =]

And if anyone, has any of the same parts im choosing and has anything to say about them. A little feedback would be great, especially how well it handles games or whatever =p

Also, is this a good monitor for the price?

2.1 ok, then the onboard will do fine! No need for extra spendings. I still am using my onboard with 5.1 it's not true surround. But the sound is very clear. Vista isn't compatible with the X-FI card so thats another problem.

Anything else anyone can suggest? i am shooting for a awesome computer, and so far the suggestions i been presented with have...

1: Saved me Money
2: Used that saved money for better hardware

So far, it's looking pretty good.
Any certain Memory that anyone is partial to?

Reply to Vos17

1.8 JEDEC standard memory, with low latency.

Mushkin memory is supposed to be very good and stable.
Other well brands are corsair/ GEIL
