Driver problems

ive got a 4850x2 and have just tried to install the 9.1s but after doing the usual stuff of uninstall/drivercleaner/reinstall theres a problem after reboot!

when windows boots up i get the logo that boots up native @1680/1050 (looks small) but then the signal is lost and i get the digital/analogue message on my screen telling me theres no input, when it comes back on (it only lasts a second) it comes straight onto the windows screen as it usually does but it loads up in 800/600 and i get the error message, 'no ati drivers are installed or are not working properly, please reinstall'.

ive tried about 10 times now and i still get this message, ive even tried to reinstall the 8.12s but it still happens. used DC, not used DC, used it in safe mode and normal mode.

can anyone help me with this?

Mine did that a couple of times; after you load into your desktop try a simple restart without reinstalling/cleaning anything. Don't know if it will help, if not try the system recovery to see if you can get your old drivers back.
