...Before overclocking the CPU? (Sorry if this post seems really nooby, I'm new to overclocking)
This is my rig:
Gigabyte P35 S-Series motherboard
E8400 dual core processor @ 3ghz currently
4GB DDR2 RAM
GTS 250
600W power supply
I want to overclock my CPU from 333 to 400 per bus, to get 3.6ghz per core. But I'm not sure to what extent I should under-clock my memory before overclocking my CPU to 400.
Currently I'm at 1065mhz.
Shall I go:
800?
666?
Lower?
Reason why I ask is last time when I tried to overclock my processor, I didn't under-clock my memory before-hand, so I stressed the CPU and OCCT said there was a problem, someone else on the forum said most likely that this is the problem, so here I am addressing it, but I'm not sure what exactly to do.
Is there anything else I should do before overclocking my CPU?
I can't go into BIOS, as my pc has a keyboard which plugs into a USB port, and doesn't work until after startup. Plus I don't want to mess anything up there, I don't think I'd know exactly what I was doing.
Thanks. Any other info needed just ask.
