I was working on a word document that suddenly disappeared
Last response: in Windows 7
How can I recover a document that word doesn't even acknowledge as ever having existed? The document disappeard... I hit a key which I thought was to delete a phrase, heard an empty clunk sound, the document disappeared and in its place was the original. Word did not save a back-up and a computer search came up empty. I have very little computer know-how.

I would check the recycle bin on you desktop unless you emptied it.Deleted text from a document does not go into the recyle bin. From the way the post is worded, the document was not deleted, but whatever edits were done to it were undone, and it was not saved after the changes were done.
