Hi, I'm thinking about building my own system for the first time and its really got me worried. I have all the parts picked out and know what I want, the thing that has me scared is if I cant make it work I'm stuck with $1700 worth of useless parts. I've read countless articles and how to guides but it still has me worried, I priced out the same system specs on a few boutique sites and they all charge a lot more for what I want and I would have to downgrade significantly and they don't offer the case I want.
My question I guess is, would it be a good idea for a newb like me to throw so much money at this system having no prior experience building machines other than installing graphics cards and optical drives? or should i go with a boutique and get a similar system with lower specs for the added security of tech support and the ability to get a refund if something goes wrong?
It seems pretty easy to build my own other than having no idea how I should install the Coolermaster V8, even after reading the manual it still seems kind of blurry. It scares me that if i build it and i go to turn it on and nothing happens that ill be left with a hard learned and very expensive lesson. maybe someone here could offer me some pointers and a good guide (maybe I've read them all lol?) or tips on how to install the V8. I plan on ordering all the parts from New Egg also and if you see anything wrong with my build please let me know I am also considering the EVGA x58 board but it doesn't seem very newb friendly.
Thanks for any help you can give I just really need some outside opinions

might want 6gb ram if your putting everything into it.... you can youtube installation of the cooler, might want to try the True cooler Thermalright ultra 120 extreme.
Newegg has good technical support, although other online companys do a good job as well. I might suggest you take a look at all the reviews for the products you're considering to see if there are consistant issues or if there are more problems than reasonable. It seems some online vendors send out more than their share of defective components.
You can run into some tough issues. For example, I had an on switch that failed after about three cycles of on and off. Drove me crazy until I figured it out.
