Recently my 8800 gts went bad. At least I think it is. It seems the 4850 or 9800 gtx+ are good bang for the buck. I am wondering what kind of gameplay can I expect at 19X12 resolution. Mainly I play EQ2. Think I paid close to 400 for the 8800 a couple of years ago. Trying to go a bit cheaper this time.
System includes:
gigabyte 965p-ds3
e6600 clocked to 3.0
700w psu
2gig of ram
24" LCD
The 4850 and the 9800GTX/GTX+ are about the same in terms of performance. Some say the 4850 is much better, but I've seen Crysis and COD4 benchmarks that suggests otherwise.
Is your system capable of SLi? If so, get either card - both are great, and get another in the future for SLi/crossfire.
If your mobo isn't SLi/crossfire capable, perhaps get a GTX260 (216 core) from Newegg - it's only $250-$300ish. Or get a 4870, which performs slightly better than the GTX260, and is around the same price.

Hi polysix,
Welcome to the Forums,
Your resolution is where the 4850 starts struggling, realistically you want to be looking at a 4870 or similar. Personally i would go with a 1 GB card as far as memory is concerned, sure you could get away with a 512 card but at your resolution it wont be long before more games will use the extra Ram.
Another +1 for the 4870 1gb. I also play at 1920*1200 and the 4870 512 that I had wasn't enough at that res. It got good framerates but with no FSAA. So yeah I would go for the 1gb model.
Everyone seems to be forgeting that he plays mainly EQ2, I would guess that the 4850 could push a game that old at 19x12 pretty easily. That being said If you got the money get the 4870 you'll be happy you did. In either case the 1gb of ram is really going to help at that res.
Actually, it cant. EQ2 is my primary game and as you can see from my sig I use a 4850. The game being old isnt an easy hurdle. I can run the game maxed out with shadows at 1680 x 1050 with 30+ fps....barely. 1900 x 1200 is a whole different realm.
