Hey there, i need to build CHEAP computers, 10 of them to be specific.
the reason for use is for a youth orginization.
i will be using Overclockers.co.uk and Ebay.co.uk if nessisary.

i have a problem though, i cannot find the right parts that match together!
all i have managed to find is the ram for cheap computers, and this is what brings me to theese forums once more for your great advice :D

okay now to the requierments!

1: They MUST be cheap! (there is no budget yet but since there not going to be used often, they dont need to be the best)
2: 512Mb Ram <- i have found theese on overclockers.co.uk http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] -OK&tool=3 theres 8 if i buy their hole stock, but from the old computers i can scavenge the old ram!
3: 1.8 GHz processor at MINIMUM (will overclock to 2Ghz)
4: 10GB harddrive at minimum (not spending over £35 per HD)
5: Cheap CD drives
6: CHEAP motherboard that can support the processor socket and ram and a built in vga w/ built in ethernet adapter for LAN.
7: Cheap case :D
Dont think we will need monitors... probably use old ones!

if you can help me, then THANK YOU! its just i dont know how to find theese cheap parts, everywhere i go its all so expensive!
thanks again

Can't you go to a computer store and ask them to build 10 computers? That might be less expensive than buying all individual parts to build them yourself.

its much more expensive that way. in the stores i have here, a 512mb ram stick costs £30 which is WAYY overpriced.

and if they construct it themselves, they charge a humongus ammount for so little power. the computers we have atm cant even run word! we have 2 dells with 2.2Ghz celeron d's, 256mb ram.
rest are 64mb ram and 1 ghz processor, which is a load of crap.

I could buy pre-assembled computers for less than I'd pay for the parts, but I'd have to select one of the kits that are available at time of purchase. Looks like the UK market has less competion than North America.

yeah everything is so expensive up here :/
a motherboard name would help if you know any, thanks

First of all, be prepared to spend a few bucks per machine. If you going to build a bottle of the barrel PC reusing parts its going to create more problems than it solves.

A quik hardware list for you:
Memory - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] nnel%20Kit
CPU - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] -%20Retail
Mobo - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] otherboard
HD - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] 0(HD082GJ)
Case - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] tts%20PSU)
DVD - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] %20-%20OEM

This will give a machine with:
2 gigs of RAM
2.6 ghz dual core AMD
80 gig HD
DVD drive
Decent Antec case & PSU
On board network and Video
Cost: approx. £192
And they are all pretty much quality parts but you still need a copy of an OS.

If this is too much, go elsewhere. You cant buy old components for less than new ones anymore. For instance the crappy DDR you listed, 1gb, is the same price as 2gb of DDR2. Trying to find mobos for old CPUs isnt going to happen. Your setting your self up for failure from the word go. If you need cheap PCs that badly just Fleabay 10 POSes and fix them up a little bit. But by the time your done you would have better off just building new machines.

Just my $.02

You actually might want to see if ebay has any whole sale lots. Sometimes you can find a bunch of old office or school computers selling for cheap. I'm not sure If I reccommend this option to you but its just a thought.

try some liquidating companies, that is the absolute cheepest way to get a resonable computer. from experience i can tell because i know a money manager that bought a dell optiplex GX280 mini tower for $100. yup, not a special computer but a steel when companies are closing down and need to sell everything.
