Hi, recently put together a new computer and in my brilliance I allowed the ATI express install thing to go through with my video card, putting the ATI HDMI audio driver on my system which I believe is clashing with the onboard provided by my motherboard. I removed all ATI utilities with the provided removal tool and reinstalled without that specific driver, however, it didn't fix the problem, my sound continues to fade in and out.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte EP45-UD3PP, the video card was a sapphire HD 4870.
Device manager shows nothing about ATI under the sound, video, and game controllers category, and yes I have enabled show hidden thingy for device manager.
The driver for your sound is from Realtek. AC'97 Audio Codecs (Software)
Uninstall the Realteck driver from Control Panel>Add and Remove Programs.
Go to Realtek website and download the driver for your system.
