Can the new Phenom II's work on this board?

Gigabyte GA 51 GM S2G:

If not, what's the best possible CPU upgrade for it? Currently, it's got an AMD X2 3800+ (AM2) on it. Is it even worth upgrading or should I go with a new build? I won't be OC'ing on this board, nor do I find a reason to with the programs I run (office aps, web browsing, Source games as most demanding program)

I have a Radeon 4830 on this board and I feel like the CPU's really holding it down.

It seems according to the CPU support list, your mobo can support the Phenom II X4 940 and X4 920. So update the BIOS then buy the new CPU.

As for the 4830 bottlenecks, yeah the 3800 is kinda bottlenecking the 4830. So an upgrade is recommanded especially if you're gaming.

Thanks for the quick reply! Any chance you could provide me with the support link?

Will there be a significant motherboard bottleneck if i stick a Phenom II into it? I'm thinking if Im going to spend $200 if I should just go with the X3 720 and a new mobo...unless the x3 also works on this current board...

Edit:

Nevermind, I found the link. Thanks
