Hey guys. Trying to get a new gaming rig together. I would like to know if this is a solid build. I plan to game on 1680x1050 resolution.

 

Case: COOLER MASTER COSMOS 1000
Power Supply: CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W
Motherboard: EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58
Processor: Intel Core i7 920
Memory: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 3GB (3 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 55nm
Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache
Optical Drive: SAMSUNG Black 22X

 

In the future. I plan on doing a few things.

 

- Overclock the processor around 3.8GHZ
- Get a Geforce GT300 when they are released using EVGA's stepup program.
- Get another pair of 3GB Dominator Ram.

 

Opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated! :)

 

I'm upgrading from a AMD64 3200+ / Radeon X800 PRO AGP / 1GB DDR400 RAM

 

*Edit: I might just go with the 3x2GB Corsair Dominator RAM.

looks good, however if you plan to overclock it maybe best to invest in an aftermarket cooler eg. the noctua or the thermalright ones.

It looks good.

You could just add a second GTX 260 instead of using the stepup program. Wait for benchmarks when the GTX 295 is out and then decide what's best.

Add a Noctua NH-U12P cooler (the LGA1366 version).

Don't forget a 64-bit OS, or you'll only be able to use about 3GB of the 6GB. Don't laugh, I've seen quite a few people do it. :) I thought the 32-bit RAM limit was pretty common knowledge by now, but I always mention it just in case.

yep very true although I think vista sucks and I still prefer to use XP dont know about other OS's
