Cd rom drive not detected

Hello,
I have this problem with my CD/ROM not being detected. Sometimes it would work fine and then other times it wouldn't. The tray would also slide back in by itself immediately after sliding out. Thinking it was my drive, I bought a new one and installed it a few days ago. It worked great and now today I'm back to the same problem, my computer can't see the drive and the tray slides back in by itself immediately after opening. HELP!
