Hello guys! I am an aspiring musician. The programs that i used on my old dell computer took up ALOT of space, so i decided to build my own computer. I think I've bought all of the components needed for the types of programs that i run. check it out and tell me what you think:

Ultra m998 ULT40069 Mid-Tower ATX Case

MSI x58 6 slot motherboard

intel i7 processor

12gb of ocz gold tri channel ddr3 memory

sony dvd-rw/cd-rw

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE

EVGA GeForce 8500 GT Video Card

ThermalTake Golden Orb II cpu fan

Prolynkz PGM-06D GO Media 3.5" Internal All-In-One with USB Card Reader

Logitech Z-5500 THX Certified 5.1 505-watt speakers

Logitech MX 5500 Revolution Cordless Desktop Keyboard & Mouse Combo

Ultra X3 ULT40071 800-Watt Power Supply

I am running vista 64bit. I know that it seems like alot, or maybe even downright unnecessary to have some of these components, but because of the music editing programs i have, i need as much memory and space as possible; trust me lol..

thank you for you guy's imput :D

The hard-drive is missing.
i'd suggest a WD 640 (maybe 2 of them if you have lost of music and movies)
The build is pretty good and the i7 will have some advantage over core2 for encoding and such. The 12gigs ram is a bit over kill (6 would be more than enough)
the PSU is just too mcuh (a 600w quality PSU is also more than enough for this kind of setup)
Other than that it seems fine to me

The 640GB drives are faster than the 500GB drives, at least when it comes to working with huge wav files. Get a WD6401AALS or two.

You don't really need that ThermalTake Golden Orb II cpu fan. You're not going to overclock the CPU, are you?

I haven't bought any Sony products since they were caught installing spyware on customers' computers a few years ago. Maybe you should consider a Samsung SH-S223Q instead.

12gb of ram?? I find that overkill as 6gb should be just fine. I highly doubt you can utilize 12gb of ram...

I guess you missed the OP's statement about RAM - "i need as much memory and space as possible; trust me lol.. ". Just because you can't imagine using that much RAM doesn't mean it's not possible, especially in the future. I say if the OP wants 12GB of RAM, go for it. I currently run 4GB of RAM and have been considering going to 8GB since I often use over 80% of my RAM.
