Hi I was wondering if the 280GTX has turbo cache?
I was told that there was a technology that allows the GPU to share the systems main memory without performance hit, is that what turbo cache is and is it worth it?

Also is 480W enough for 2sata hdd dvd,dvd writer,280, phenom cpu, and a sound card?

Never heard of Turbo Cache, but I guarantee you the GTX 280 does not share the system's main memory. That's the sort of thing only low-end video cards do, or integrated graphics.

No, 480W is not enough for that setup. Get something with 650W or 750W. There's a PC Power & Cooling 750W on sale at newegg for example. Actually, BFG recommends "575W PCI Express-compliant system power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 42A or more*" but your system is not exactly minimal and it's good to have some upgrade room anyway.

280GTX = very high speed DRAM vs. onboard ram = much much much slower RAM.

You would never want turbocache on a high end card, it's only for low cost cards so that they can play new games if you really want to.

While some will say that 480w is enough, and others will argue, one thing is certain: if you have more power than you need, you will not have a power problem. IMO, you are in the may work, may not. I would say go 600w to be safe.

corsair 650w or 750w tx is a good psu for your config. they are having a sale right now on them for cheap. Corsair psu are very reliable and one of the best psu available. you really dont want to take chances on a cheap low watt psu and risk sacrificing your whole rig. whatever you decide to go with, make sure its a good brand like pc power and cooling or thermaltake, or corsair. cheap psu's fail and take your system with 'em.
