Hi everyone, the summer is here again and in my case it´s time for me to lower my CPU voltage so I can run my processor a little cooler in these hot days, something I´ve done commonly before with my previous Phenoms.
I recently bought a new Phenom II 920 alongside with a not-so-new Asus M3A Mobo. As far as I know, Phenoms have pretty high standard voltage of 1.36v and from my experiences I can safely lower it down to 1.25v to run it stable and cool. It´s not overclocked, so I´m using the stock hsf.
Well, the problem is: with the M3A Mobo, the only options I get for processor voltage are 0.8000v - 0.9750v (screenshot)
Is it me or M3A who´s completely lost here? Any advices would be appreciated.
BTW, BIOS has been flashed with the newest version.
I agree that is very strange. This probably won't do any good but try setting the AI Tuner to Manual and reboot back into the bios. Just curious, what do your VCore read at in the bios hardware monitor? The only other way to maybe get around this is with the ASUS software that come with the motherboard but to be honest with I don't recommend using this software for motherboard tweaking at all. Afterthought, did you pull the CMOS battery to clear the bios after flashing?

Turned the AI Overclocking to manual and rebooted. No changes unfortunately. Hardware monitor shows the VCore of 1.36V wich is standard.

Cant actually remember if I did because I flashed the bios months ago. But I did clear the Bios like hour ago before my post here, but the voltage problem still exist.

I've seen this problem before I used to hang out at the ASUS forum, I just cant remember what the cure was. I'm not about to tell you to buy new hardware without some degree of certainty. Tom's is an excellent forum but if you can't get anywhere here try posting this at the ASUS forum under your board.
Thanks for the help, after reading a countless posts related to Phenom II + trollposts by some intel fanboys at the ASUS forums I´ve got a hunch that the problem is hanging around the compatibility between M3A and Phenom II.
One possible solution you told me, would be using that software wich is said to be not recommended, so I keep it in mind as a last option, since my system is working perfectly well if I dont mind the little heat increase at summer times (and drop the idea of overclocking.) But it seems pretty inevitable that I must buy a new motherboard for my phenom from my next salary, that´s for sure.
It´s still a bit amusing that the local computer shop offered me a motherboard with so much known compatibility problems with the new Phenom processors, half price or not
