ive seen memory at 800 with a 4-4-4-4 memory timing and 1333-ish with 7-7-7-7 timings, exactly which one is better? The timings show how many cycles it takes for the memory to run and back, so would it be easier to get one with lower hz, like 800 instead of 1333, and OC it to higher?
i actually have no idea what the frequency does....mostly because i cant find an explination anywere, but i wanted to go with a 1600+ish frequency for DDR3, except the CAS timings get higher than the lower frequencies.
Well if it's for an i7 build, the sweet spot is 1333mhz RAM. I personally chose 1600mhz Gskil PI, 8-8-8-24, which runs fine. You won't see any difference with real world apps between 1333mhz and 1600mhz, let alone the timing differences.
im mostly gonna be running games, and i know memory doesent affect your gameplay, but i just wouldent want a sluggish internet, so thats why im asking, the sweetspot for the i7 920 is 1333 mhz RAM? How come?
I was thinking to get a lower frequency with lower CAS timings and OC it to a higher frequency, dunno if u can do the same for CAS
However I think the 1333mhz sweet spot was when DDR3 1600mhz was alot more expensive than 1333mhz ram. Now there's probably less than $20 difference, with some low end 1600mhz ram priced lower than high end 1333mhz ram.
and how do you see how the memory fares on like searching the web?
been looking at the benchmarks, theres little to no difference in gameplay, The 1066 mhz actually seems to be the sweet spot the the i7, 1333 mhz after it, think ill go with 1066 with a low CAS frequency
Still dunno what affects how "fast" your internet loads though
oh no, i meant ithought that RAM increases the time your internet loads, hence its name random access memory, i have a fast internet so i dont need to worry about upgrading, except the laptop im using now is sluggish, so i thought in my new build i'd want to load teh internet faster
