I am new here and a novice when it comes to computers so I need your help!! Last year my cpu died so I replaced the motherboard, which had windows xp OEM on it, with a MSI K8NGM2-NBP motherboard. The computer tech that replaced the motherboard loaded windows xp off of her start-up cd to this new motherboard. About 5 months ago I decided that I wanted to try Ubuntu Linux as my OS cause it seems to be alot faster. Everything worked fine for a couple of days and then on 3rd day I went to boot my computer and I get the message.."Windows Root\win32\.dll. is missing or corrupt. So I went to my back-up files to burn this file to a cd and try the reinstall...much to my dismay I get the same error message. So I do a little more research in my backup files and found that the windows folder is completely empty? I don't remember deleting those files..
So I called HP and they sent the full recovery cd's and supplemental cd for my computer. Well come to find out they don't support this motherboard because it was replaced. SO what can I do to get this file fixed when I cannot get past this error message and boot into windows? Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
