Hi.
I have recently got a broadband connection on my roommate’s laptop and is now to be shared on my PC also. The service provider has changed the way you can connect to the net. Just plugging in the LAN port doesn’t start the net. You need to login first from its site for the net session to begin. Now, how can I get this thing to work?
I have two possible (not sure which works ) solutions:
1. Told by the guy who did the installation at my place > Get a router and need to do settings in that.
2. Told by a friend > Plug in the net connection in first port of my PC and get the laptop on LAN through the second port.(Create a Bridge, as he quoted.)
(Need to know whether I need two LAN cards for this, or the IN and OUT ports of the same card will suffice…)
Solution 1 makes a lot more sense and is rather inexpensive. Solution 2 implies that the PC needs to be available for the laptop to access the Internet.
